Bartimaeus Contract Teaching Position
Bartimaeus, Québec has a contract teaching/tutoring position available immediately for a specialized program for Inuit youth. The Ulluriaq Adolescent Center, located in Rivières de Prairies, QC is a residential program housing 8 Inuit girls and 8 Inuit boys, ages 13-17. All students speak English as a second language. We are looking for an experienced educator/tutor to work with the girls, all of whom are IPL students, 3-5 years behind in their studies, and many of whom can present challenging behaviours. Curriculum is open for a professional interpretation and design based on students needs. This temporary full time position would begin immediately; 5 days a week, 6.4 hours/day for the balance of the school year. A contract renewal for next school year (2012-2013) is possible as well. Remuneration would be at $47.00 /hour. More information.

Ed Zegray our rep at the provincial level recommends that we protest Bill 23 by sending a letter
Attached you will find a form letter to voice opposition to Bill 23. It was originally formulated by AQRP, one of the members of GTAR.
The problem with Bill 23 is the clause that requires a 20% surplus before the 1982-99 indexation situation be improved, and the Bill only applies to the RREGOP plan.
On October 4-5, 2011 Parliamentary Hearings will be held on Bill 23. So far I am aware of 2 GTAR members that have been invited and will present briefs, AREQ and AQRP.
The letter ( Le ____________ requires a date, eg 3 octobre 2011, then print name and address, sign the letter), place a stamp on an envelope and mail to Mme Courchesne. To be effective, this should be done by October 14.
